How to prevent my seasoning from burning on the griddle?

Frustrated! Have tried both a thin layer of avocado and vegetable oil and last few times my steak seasoning has burnt right off leaving an undesirable sear. I'm seasoning with SPG and ran the blackstone on high(preheated for over 20 mins)
